The repackaged Star Wars Trilogy (Episodes IV-VI), finally on DVD, topped a list where The Return of the King appeared in four separate editions and the full Lord of the Rings trilogy box sets charted twice more. Animation and TV define the rest: Shrek 2, Finding Nemo and the Shrek box set, plus a wall of seasons from The West Wing, 24, Friends, The Simpsons and Sex and the City. The surprises are the warm British titles, Love Actually and Calendar Girls, and the curio Live Aid charting at 18. A year when box sets, both film franchises and TV seasons, became the format's true backbone.
