Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest led a year that belonged unusually to factual television and nature: Planet Earth charted at three and March of the Penguins at four, both above most of the year's films. The pattern is family animation surging, with Cars, Ice Age 2, High School Musical and Wallace & Gromit's Were-Rabbit all high. American drama box sets multiply, 24 appears five separate times across its seasons. The surprises are Brokeback Mountain charting at 19 and the genuinely strange Deal or No Deal Interactive DVD Game at 11. A year when a David Attenborough series and a penguin documentary outsold Hollywood's biggest names.
